Introduction

Do you like grocery shopping? Me neither.

If you’re like me, you’d prefer to spend time cooking….and eating. You know, the fun stuff. That’s why I prefer getting grocery delivery from Instacart.

Superstore Grocery Delivery Powered by Instacart

Superstore in Chilliwack has partnered with the grocery delivery service, Instacart. You can place your order online or through the app, and get your groceries delivered right to your Chilliwack home. How convenient is that?

My grocery delivery arrived right on time thanks to my personal shopper Yvonne, who did a great job checking in with me about replacements for items I had ordered.

She left them outside our garage so I could easily transport them inside, and was right on schedule.

Five star review for Yvonne.

I work from home, and had a busy day at work so I knew I wouldn’t have time to go run and get groceries myself, plus prep and put everything away, plus cook dinner!

Grocery delivery by Instacart gives you your time back to do other things you’d rather be doing, or need to do to run your busy household.

This order would have taken me 2 hours to get to the store, shop, checkout, load my groceries, and drive back home.

I just saved 2 hours of shopping thanks to Instacart grocery delivery, which is available in Chilliwack. And you can too if you want to give it a try and let someone else do the shopping.

What’s In My Bag?

Ok, let’s take a look at what I ordered, and what my plans are for this big order…

Sparkling water. We drink this stuff like crazy. With natural flavour and 0 calories, this is the smart way to go instead of drinking pop!

Next up. Tomaters! We’ve been craving some garden tomato soup. But since it’s January and we don’t have any from the garden, we ordered some from Superstore instead.

Tomatoes

I know what will go great with some homemade tomato soup. Grilled cheese sandwiches! We ordered some freshly baked bread and a variety of cheese to make that happen.

Pro tip: always use a cast iron pan to make your grilled cheese sandwiches and you’ll end up with something that looks like this:

I needed to restock on some baking staples because you should always have ingredients on hand to spontaneously make chocolate chip cookies. Isn’t that what makes a house a home?

However, I accidentally ordered a small bag of flour.

When you’re shopping in-store, it’s easy to pick up the right size of things you need, but shopping online, you really need to pay attention to the size and quantity of what you’re purchasing.

Clearly I didn’t, and ended up with the small bag instead. Oops.

Chips and salsa anyone? How about some late night cast iron nachos?

Usually I buy Superstore frozen raspberries to use in smoothies. They’re cheap, but you get what you pay for.

Recently, I discovered they are imported all the way from Serbia. Umm. No wonder it’s just a bag of crumbles by the time you get them home. I couldn’t believe it.

Superstore Frozen Raspberries from Serbia, hmmmm...

I can’t even begin to comprehend the “high level” business decisions that decided in favour of having raspberries flown on a 13+ hour flight to little ol’ Chilliwack when we live next to the raspberry Capital of Canada.

Yet here we are.

This summer we’ll be growing more of our own, and stocking up on local raspberries to support the local economy and freeze them for the year. But until then, I’ll settle for fresh from the store.

How about a little seafood? We love making ahi tuna poke bowls at home. Just cook up some rice, and add some spicy mayo (mayonnaise, sriracha, and a splash of lime juice and sesame oil). Then top with your favourite veggies: cucumber, avocado, radishes, edamame beans, tomatoes, peppers, and for some added crunch, panko breadcrumbs. You can also serve this as a salad.

We’ll be using those prawns in a homemade Cesar salad.

Look at all these delicious and healthy fruits and veggies that will last us the week! We’ll use these ingredients in a variety of dishes like our poke bowls, homemade veggie noodle soup, homemade pho, veggie sandwiches, smoothies, salads and pizza.

We also wanted to try out a few different ready-made, meat-free options for when we’re feeling lazy and need something quick (aka vegetarian junk food). I’m excited to try the plant based chicken burgers. To spice them up we’ll just add some BBQ sauce, toast the buns with garlic butter, add some homemade guacamole, and top them with cheese, pickles, onions, lettuce and tomato. Yummy!
